Hot and Stormy Weather Forecast for the Start of the Fair

(Undated) — It looks like the weather is going to be a less than ideal to start the Crawford County Fair. While 4-H events are already underway, Grandstand events begin tomorrow, and the forecast calls for heat and humidity. According to the latest “Hazardous Weather Outlook” from the National Weather Service, heat and humidity will continue across central and southeast IL through Saturday, with highs in the lower 90s and afternoon heat index values peaking around 100 degrees today and between 100 and 105 degrees tomorrow. They say isolated to scattered thunderstorms will continue across the area this afternoon and evening, and while “organized severe weather” is not expected at this time, locally heavy downpours are possible. A cold front will bring additional chances of showers tomorrow afternoon and evening, and a few strong-to-severe thunderstorms are possible.
