(Undated) — The American Red Cross is announcing a “blood supply crisis.” The Red Cross announced an “emergency blood shortage” on July 13th, and despite thousands of individuals stepping forward to help, they say the situation has escalated into a blood supply crisis. Account Manager, Donor Recruitment, Zachary Elmore, says that for just the second time in its history, the Red Cross has declared a “national blood crisis.” He says blood donations have fallen to a four-year summer low, worsening this summer’s emergency shortage. A blood supply crisis is the most extreme blood shortage, posing a concerning risk to patient care. To make an appointment to donate, visit redcrossblood.org.
