(Undated) — The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded has slipped lower but remains above $4. According to this morning’s numbers from GasBuddy.com, the national average is $4.04, six cents lower than a week ago. Here in Illinois, the statewide average is $4.27 a gallon, nine cents lower than last Friday. Across the Wabash in Indiana, the statewide average is $3.52, twelve cents lower than the end of July, making Indiana the “low price leader.” California drivers are paying the highest prices in the nation, with a statewide average of $5.61, four cents lower than last Friday.
