(Oblong) — An “extensive water leak” affecting a portion of Oblong yesterday has been repaired but has prompted a “precautionary boil order.” According to Oblong Mayor, Teresa Fielder, the leak and subsequent outage affected basically the entire Northeast section of the Village limits. Fielder took to social media yesterday to praise the fast response and great teamwork of the Oblong Public Works crew who worked to repair the leak. She says after opening some hydrants, along with slowly bringing water pressure up, “the clamps are holding.” However, a “precautionary boil order” remains in place. She says that means you should boil any water for human consumption. She also says you may want to flush your faucets for a few minutes before use. Water samples will be collected this morning, and within a day or two, they should receive the results. A post will be made on the Village Facebook page as soon as the boil order is lifted.
