Noah Wyle is sharing how he manages to stay fit while filming the hit medical drama, “The Pitt.”

During a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 55-year-old actor shared what it means for the Cedar Sinai Board of Governors to honor the show with the Hollywood Leadership Award, and how he stays fit enough to keep up with filming the physically demanding HBO Max show.

“I have an accountability partner and a guy named Dash Land who’s the on-set dresser and he and I do a hundred push-ups every day, come rain or come shine. That’s the base,” Wyle said about his fitness routine. “We try to add a little bit on top of that if we can, if we remember to. That’s base. We also installed a chin-up bar recently. I have a goal to be, I’m going to embarrass myself, to do ten by the end of the season. I’m at six right now, solid six.”

The actor stars in “The Pitt,” an intense medical drama which follows emergency nurses and doctors over the course of one shift, with each episode showcasing one hour of a 12-hour shift.

Wyle portrays Dr. Robby on the show, who is the chief attending physician and head of the emergency department at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, and is dealing with the emotional toll years of working on the frontlines of medicine can take on a person.

When speaking to Veja+ in January, Wyle said that the cast has to “take very good care of ourselves” almost “out of necessity,” because while filming they “work 14 hours a day, five days a week, for nine months straight.”

“At the beginning of filming I asked all the actors to do an exercise, and it was just standing on your feet for 15 hours,” he said. “And as you stand, every hour begin to note where your fatigue is coming in – where do you get stiff, where’s painful, when do you have to use the bathroom, when do you get hungry. Write all that down and then work it into the appropriate hour of your shift, and it’ll give you the physicality that you need.”

Men’s Health referred this exercise as NEAT, which stands for non-exercise activity thermogenesis, which takes into account everyday activities which aren’t necessarily considered exercise, but get the heart rate up, such as mowing the lawn or vacuuming the floor.

Wyle’s workout routine has paid off, as the actor was recently named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2026.

The news was met with mixed reactions online, with one social media user writing, “Out of all of the people in the world…this is who you pick? You’ve got to be kidding,” and another added, “Not even the sexiest in that show.”

“More like Noah WHY-le! Ha ha but no seriously who’d you actually pick?” the user joked, while another asked, “is this a joke?”

The cast of “The Pitt,” which also includes Emmy Award winners, Katherine LaNasa and Sean Hatosy, were recently honored by Cedar Sinai Medical Center at the Sunset Soiree, for the series’ authentic portrayal of emergency medicine, a moment Wyle called “incredibly gratifying.”

“Cedars is like the crown jewel of Los Angeles health care, and being a third generation Angelino, I’m extremely gratified to be recognized by them as an institution,” he said. “They were where my first son was born. I’ve said goodbye to many a friend there. The work that they’ve given to the people that I’ve known on both ends of life has been stellar, exemplary, heroic, beautiful. I’m really happy to come out tonight to support them and to try and raise money for them by opening up my rolodex.”

Prior to landing the role of Dr. Robbie on “The Pitt,” Wyle starred in a different medical drama playing Dr. John Carter in “ER” alongside George Clooney.

He starred on the show for 11 seasons from 1994 to 2005, appearing in over 250 episodes of the show. During an interview with GQ in April, Wyle admitted that despite his success on “ER,” he was struggling financially before starring in “The Pitt.”

“Well, not to make it a sob story, but everything I pretty much had made and earned on ‘ER,’ I spent,” he told GQ. “I’d taken it down to the studs a couple years ago, to the point where I was doing work for the money, for the experience and for the need to work.”

“But I was looking at the rest of my career [thinking], ‘Let’s shrink this footprint down and turn it into something that’s sustainable and manageable,'” Wyle added.
