Deer Are on The Move

(Undated) — The deer are on the move, and authorities say “stay alert.” The Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois Department of Natural Resources are reminding the public to be alert for deer as we enter peak mating season. IDOT’s Paul Wappel says those traveling at dusk and dawn need to pay particular attention as the chances for collisions increase. Wappel also reminds drivers not to “veer for a deer.” He says if you do hit a deer, you should pull off to the side of the road, turn on your hazard lights, call 911, and most importantly, stay in the vehicle.
