(Robinson) – Local law enforcement officers will be taking part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics today. Participating officers will begin their run at 9 am this morning at Jersey Mike’s. They will run west on Route 33 to Oblong. According to officials with the Special Olympics, the “Law Enforcement Torch Run” is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. If you would like a Special Olympics t-shirts and/or hat those can be purchased this morning outside of Jersey Mike’s starting around 8:30 am. All of the proceeds benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. The Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games will be held Friday at Hancock Stadium in Normal.
