(Effingham, IL) – An Effingham man is behind bars following an attempted bank robbery Friday. Police say Bradley Bennett entered the Fifth-Third Bank on East Jefferson Avenue Friday morning and approached a teller with a note demanding money while stating he was armed. Effingham City Police responded to a 911 call from an employee reporting a robbery in progress. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody without incident. Officers did locate a weapon after searching Bennett. He has been charged with Aggravated Robbery.
