(Oblong) – The Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong and the Oblong American Legion will begin the work of putting out crosses on the Funeral Home Lawn today. The crosses are a part of the funeral home’s annual salute to the Veterans. Each year the funeral home and the Oblong American Legion Post #219 honor local Veterans. Each Veteran has a cross with his or her name on it with an American Flag next to the cross. The crosses will be illuminated at night and the public is invited to stop and look at the crosses. The public is also invited to the 25th Annual Veterans Day Service Sunday at 2 p.m. Organizers remind the public to bring their own chair if they are not able to stand for very long as no chairs will be available or provided. During this year’s ceremony, they are set to honor more than four hundred Veterans.
