ISP to Move Forward with Assault Weapons Ban Enforcement

(Undated) – The battle over the state’s “assault weapons ban” continues. While the “legal wrangling” is ongoing the Illinois State Police have to move forward with enforcement. However, Ed Sullivan with the Illinois State Rifle Association says if the law is struck down as unconstitutional, the ISP will destroy the records being kept, which he says is a small victory.

The list is short right now. The ISP says only one point two percent of gun owners have registered any weapons. The US Supreme Court recently passed on stepping in to temporarily block the law.
