(Undated) – Hot and humid conditions are forecast through the weekend. According to a “Special Weather Statement” from the National Weather Service, hot and humid weather will prevail through Sunday over central and southeast Illinois. The hottest days will be tomorrow and Saturday when temperatures climb into the mid-90s, with afternoon heat index values peaking near or above 100 degrees. The public is reminded to take precautions. If working outside, be sure to drink plenty of water, wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothing, and take frequent breaks in air-conditioned locations. Be sure to check on those most vulnerable to the heat, including children and the elderly. Provide shade and fresh water for outdoor pets and livestock, and check the backseat of your vehicle when transporting children.
