Hurricane Beryl Leads to “Flood Watch” for the Area

By Tony Collins Jul 8, 2024 | 6:40 AM

(Undated) – The remnants of “Hurricane Beryl” are forecast to bring a band of heavy rain to a portion of southeast Illinois. According to this morning’s forecast from the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into the area overnight tonight and continue through at least Wednesday. They say while many locations will receive “beneficial rainfall amounts,” there is a chance for more than three inches, which would cause at least localized flooding. A “Flood Watch” will go into effect tomorrow morning and remain in effect through Wednesday afternoon. During the first week of July, we’ve recorded just shy of an inch and a half of rain.
