(Undated) – If you’re deep frying your Thanksgiving turkey tomorrow the U of I Extension says a few basic tips can keep you safe. University of Illinois Extension Food Nutrition Educator, Caitlin Mellendorf, says first and foremost, make sure the deep fryer is well away from any structures and on a stable level surface. She also reminds everyone that you must thaw the turkey thoroughly before putting it in the oil. She says the U of I Extension has plenty of resources for those preparing a holiday feast this week and those that just simply want to learn more about food preparation in general.
