(Undated) – Ameren is warning its customers to be on the lookout for scams. Ameren Public Information Officer, Brian Bretsch, says as technology changes so do the tactics of scammers. He says one of the things scammers do is “masking” numbers with local area codes.
Bretsch says regardless of how contact is made the ultimate goal of the scammer doesn’t change. They will still pressure you into making immediate payment or will “fish around” for your financial information. He says if you receive a suspicious call, simply hang up and if you are behind on your bill, contact Ameren and they will work with you to set up a payment plan. Call Ameren at 800-755-5000.
