Palestine Man Arrested Following Altercation with Police

(Palestine) — An early Sunday morning altercation with the Palestine Police Department has landed a Palestine man in jail. According to Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing at around 1:20 yesterday morning Palestine Police Officer Brandon Carpenter approached a man, identified as thirty nine year old Jeremiah Patterson yelling loudly and creating a disturbance while walking on East Grand Prairie Street in Palestine. Patterson continued to act aggressively, screaming and then charging at Officer Carpenter with “clenched” fist. Officer Carpenter then deployed his taser at Patterson. Patterson was transported to Crawford Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation and then to the Crawford County Jail where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Aggravated Assault. Patterson is being held in lieu of bond being set by a judge. Off duty Oblong Police officer Joe Gunn and Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Carr assisted in the arrest.
