(Robinson) — The Robinson Police are reminding the public not to drink and drive this holiday season. According to Robinson Police Department Chief Chad Weaver now through the New Year’s Day motorists will notice an increase in patrols watching for anyone who is driving impaired. The police will also be looking for those that aren’t buckled up. Weaver reminds everyone that it is the law in Illinois to wear your seat belt, no matter where you are seated in the vehicle. Also, Impaired driving offenders often serve jail time, lose their driver’s license and are charged higher insurance rates and pay unanticipated expenses ranging from attorney fees, court costs, car towing, repairs and lost wages. However the ultimate cost to driving under the influence is causing a traffic crash that injures or kills. The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement effort is made possible by money from the IDOT.
