State Police Release Numbers for 2017

(Effingham) — The Illinois State Police in Effingham have released their “Activity and Enforcement numbers for 2017. According to District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, issued 9,425 citations and 10,346 written warnings, including 4,483 speeding citations, 110 DUIs, 1,239 seatbelt citations, 59 child restraint citations and made 459 criminal arrests. Troopers also investigated 886 traffic crashes. Of those crashes, 23 were fatal crashes. During the year, 6,303 citations and 3,817 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, and Distracted Driving
