(Sullivan, IN) — Space heaters and an overloaded extension cord are believed to be the cause of weekend fire in Sullivan County. According to Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom officers were called out to a trailer fire in rural Sullivan County yesterday afternoon. When they arrived the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. Twenty nine year old Cara Vancil was able to escape through the front door. However forty one year old Justin Norris who was also there at the time of the fire had to escape through a broken window in the back of the trailer. Vancil was taken to Greene County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. During the investigation it was discovered that Norris was wanted on a Clay County warrant for Petition to Revoke Bond on a prior charge of Dealing Methamphetamine. He was taken into custody and booked into the Sullivan County Jail. Officials discourage the use of space heaters as a primary source of heat, as they draw heavy amperage and often overload electrical cords and circuits.
