(Undated) — Several accidents in the area yesterday have been attributed to something called “Black Ice”, but what is it. Dictionary.com defines it as “a thin sheet of ice, as on a road surface, usually caused by freezing mist.” According to the Weather Channel common locations to find black ice include bridges, overpasses and spots on the road shaded by trees or other objects. When driving on “Black Ice” you are reminded to keep your wheels straight, do not slam on your brakes, take your foot off of the accelerator to reduce your speed and most of all try to stay calm. With cold and foggy weather expected to stick around for the next couple of days the threat of “Black Ice” will continue so slow down, allow extra distance between you and other drivers, allow yourself extra time to get where you are going and stay safe.
