(Undated) — The kids are in school now but summer vacation will be here before you know it and Crawford County is one of twenty seven counties in Illinois that do not have any Summer Food Service Program serving sites. According to the Illinois State Board of Education for every 100 children nationally who received meals through the National School Lunch Programs in the 2015-16 school year, only 15 received meals over the following summer. The SFSP provides nutritious meals to children and teens, age 18 and younger, during the summer months when school is not in session. To learn more about becoming a SFSP site, sponsors should contact ISBE at (800) 545-7892 or CLICK HERE.
