Statesmen Take Two of Three

(Robinson) – The LTC Statesmen took two of three games in weekend baseball action. It came down to the wire Friday, but thanks to a dramatic walk-off error LTC took a 5-4 win over Kaskaskia. Casey Bargo pitched the Statesmen to victory. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out five. The Statesmen dropped game one of the Saturday doubleheader against Kaskaskia, 9-3. Conor Steinbaugh took the loss for the Statesmen. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out one. LTC got a measure of revenge in game two despite allowing three runs in the 5th inning. The Statesmen were able to hang on for a 9-5 win in the afternoon contest. Brady Bowling led the Statesmen to victory on the hill surrendering two runs on three hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Dalton Laney threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Laney recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for LTC. The Statesmen improve to 17-15 on the season and are on the road today for a contest in Owensboro Kentucky.
