Police Remind the Public Fines Have Increased

(Palestine) – Local authorities are reminding the public that a number of fines increased at the beginning of the month. In a recent post on the Palestine Police Department’s Official Facebook page, Palestine Police Chief, Jeff Besing, reminded drivers that effective July 1st the fee for speeding, seat-belt and stop sign violations, ATV’s on the roadway, and distracted driving have increased. Speeding, stop sign, seat belt, and ATV tickets have gone up to $164. Holding a cell phone while driving is now also $164 and it is a moving violation. The fine for operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle is $200.00 and Bond for a DUI is $300.
