Vincennes Officer and Wife Facing Abuse Charges

arrested

(Vincennes, In) — A Vincennes police officer and his wife are facing several charges stemming from a child abuse claim. Robert Hammond and his wife Kristi were arrested Friday and charged with neglect of a dependent, criminal confinement, and battery of a victim under the age of 14. Court documents claim the two allegedly used a wooden spoon and metal spatula to strike Kristi’s child. They are also accused of locking the child out of their residence at times and using duct tape as a restraint on multiple occasions. Hammond has been suspended from the Vincennes Police Department without pay as a result of the felony charges. The case will be considered in a special session of the Vincennes Police Merit Commission on Thursday.
