(Undated) – It is the season for holiday parties and family gatherings and health experts are reminding you that the best way to avoid getting sick with the flu is to get vaccinated. The Crawford County Health Department will continue to offer the seasonal flu shot every Monday during their regular “Walk-In” clinic 8 am-11 am. Special arrangements can be made to accommodate those with limited mobility or those who are homebound. Public health managers remind those getting a shot that it typically takes about two weeks after vaccination for the shot to reach full effectiveness. There is a charge for the seasonal flu shot. Medicare, Medicaid, and several insurance companies can be billed for flu vaccinations for those persons presenting appropriate cards. Residents with questions about flu vaccination, scheduling, or insurance coverage should call CCHD at 544-8798.
