(Undated) — Cats aren’t always the first animal you think of when it comes to rabies but according to a new law, all pet cats in Illinois are now required to be vaccinated against rabies. The new law went into effect at the start of the New Year. Rabies can be spread through a bite or scratch from an infected animal and can be fatal if not treated early. Any human bitten by a rabid or wild animal should see a doctor right away.
