Experts See Uptick in Mental Health Issues

sad
(Undated) – The “Stay at Home” orders and COVID-19 has been a physical and mental struggle for many. Healthcare providers across the state say they are seeing an increase in individuals who are experiencing things like depression and anxiety for the first time.
That was Jessica Smiley with Heritage Behavioral Health Center. Roughly one in five people experience mental illness during their lives and many might think the coronavirus would bring that number higher, but Smiley contends that number is probably already higher because of the number of people that experience these issues but never seek out help. If you find yourself being overtaken by worry or depression you are encouraged to talk with someone close to you. If you are thinking about serious harm, seek help immediately.
