Drivers Nationwide are Seeing “Mixed Bag” at the Pump

By Tony Collins Oct 1, 2024 | 6:41 AM

(Undated) – We continue to see a “mixed bag” of gas prices nationwide. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, prices declined in slightly more than half of U.S. states while others have seen increases due to some refinery snags and maintenance issues. De Haan says while Hurricane Helene left feet of rain behind and some states are seeing challenges in getting gasoline to stations, the storm did not broadly impact fuel production. He says for now, with oil prices falling back below $70 per barrel, the national average may be a bit stuck in the low three-dollar range until fall maintenance wraps up. The current national average is $3.21 a gallon.
