(Undated) – The recent rainfall across the area is part of a “heavy rainfall event.” According to the National Weather Service, a slow-moving cold front interacted with an unseasonably moist airmass to produce periods of rain across central and southeast Illinois. They say “beneficial rainfall amounts” were recorded across the entire region, with the heaviest totals over 3 inches, focusing from Lincoln and Champaign southwestward to the Saint Louis metro. Here at the Classic Hits studio, we have recorded 2.39 inches of rain since November 1st. More rain than we received for the entire month of October. WTYE continues to be an official weather recording and reporting station for the National Weather Service.
