(Undated) — December is “Seasonal Depression Awareness Month.” Many people go through short periods when they feel sad or unlike their usual selves. According to mental health experts, around five percent of American adults suffer some form of seasonal depression. Symptoms can include a decrease in energy, sleeping too much, or appetite changes. While it’s often thought about as a winter condition, it can also affect people in other seasons as changes in nature affect moods. If you or someone you know is struggling or having thoughts of suicide, call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org. In life-threatening situations, call 911.
