(Undated) – If you are looking for a way to burn off some of those holiday calories and boost your mental health, go for a walk. According to a recent study walking seven-thousand steps a day could help reduce your risk of depression. While it’s long been known that exercise improves mental health, this is the first study to look at step counts and a possible link between the two. Researchers looked at thirty-three studies of nearly one-hundred-thousand people and found that those who walk seven-thousand steps a day are 31% less likely to be depressed and the risk reduction benefit soared to 40 % for walkers who do ten-thousand steps.
