2024 Could Set State Record for Tornados

(Undated) – 2024 could go down in the record books for the number of tornadoes in Illinois. According to Illinois State Climatologist, Trent Ford, he has started compiling 2024 weather data and Illinois is on pace to break the statewide record for the number of tornadoes in a given year. The previous record was set in 2006. Currently, there have been 140 tornadoes in Illinois in 2024.
