Oblong Mayor Offers Tips Ahead of Weekend Weather

(Oblong) – The Village of Oblong is reminding residents to keep some things in mind ahead of the forecasted winter weather. Oblong Mayor, Teresa Fielder, advises residents to remove any vehicles that are parked along the street before and during any snowfall. She says this will minimize accidents and improve the efficiency of removing the snow. If possible, shovel driveway aprons only after the snowplows are finished clearing the streets. Fielder says to pile all snow in your yard, away from the edge of the street if possible. She also says while the Village of Oblong has no designated “snow routes”, Oblong Public Works does its best to keep a few heavy traffic streets in each neighborhood clear at all times including Illinois, Garfield, Adams, Indiana, and Farley Road.
