(Undated) — Tax filing season is underway and the Better Business Bureau reminds the public to avoid tax scams. BBB Investigator, Don O’Brien, says tax scams are often as predictable as taxes themselves, reappearing each tax season with a slightly different spin. However, he says the central theme is scammers posing as the Internal Revenue Service trying to trick people into paying up or sharing personal information.
O’Brien reminds the public that the IRS will not contact you via phone, text, or email. To learn more about tax scams and how to avoid them, visit irs.gov.
