Trade War Likely to Drive Gas Prices Higher

By Tony Collins Mar 6, 2025 | 6:33 AM
(Undated) — The current “trade war” between the United States, Canada, and Mexico will raise gas prices. GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, says the retaliatory tariffs on the United States announced by Canada President, Justin Trudeau, will force large companies to pass on the prices to everyday consumers.
De Haan says the impact on prices may not be seen for a couple of weeks, but they are on the way. He says those in the northeastern U.S. will see the effect first, but the tariffs could boost gas and diesel prices by five to fifteen cents per gallon nationwide.
