Fielder and Woods Win in Contested Mayoral Races

(Undated) — Teresa Fielder remains Oblong’s Mayor following yesterday’s Consolidated Election. Fielder garnered 252 votes to 94 for her challenger, Terry Ochs. The other mayoral race of interest is in Palestine, where Presley Harris was the only name to appear on the ballot. Harris received a total of 17 votes. However, unofficially, David Woods is the winner of the Mayoral race in Palestine with 369 write-in votes. Robinson Mayor, Mike Shimer was running unopposed. Crawford County Clerk, Beckie Staley, says they still have 362 outstanding “mail-in” ballots that have to be counted before any results can be certified. Staley reminds the public that all of the current numbers are preliminary and the official totals won’t be available for a couple of weeks.
