(Undated) — The National Weather Service is again warning about the continued threat of “heavy rainfall.” According to the latest “Hazardous Weather Outlook,” thunderstorms are expected to overspread portions of central and southeast Illinois again today and tonight. They say some of the storms could be strong or severe, with damaging wind gusts or large hail as the primary concerns. A brief, isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, especially near and south of I-70. In addition, there will be periods of heavy rain that will lead to flooding or continued rises of area streams and rivers. They say periods of showers and thunderstorms will continue Saturday. A “Flood Watch” remains in effect through Sunday for a large portion of the area, while a “Flood Warning” remains in effect for the Embarras and Wabash Rivers.
