(Undated) — The American Red Cross continues to face one of its worst blood shortages in decades. They say blood and platelet donations for all blood types are needed. While just 7% of the U.S. population has Type-O Negative blood, it can be transfused to patients with any blood type and is what hospital staff reaches for during emergencies when there isn’t time to determine a patient’s blood type. To learn more and schedule your appointment, visit redcrossblood.org. The Red Cross will be at the Hutsonville High School today from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and at Palestine High School next Wednesday.
