(Undated) – Students across the county head back to school this week, and now is the time to review some safety tips with your kids. Whether children walk, ride their bicycles, or take the bus to school, it is vitally important that they take proper safety precautions. The National Safety Council website is a great resource for parents who need a refresher and to help students stay as safe as possible. To learn more, check out nsc.org and download the “Safety Checklist.” Also, while many of the kids heading back to class are “old pros,” there will be many “first timers.” Authorities are reminding parents of younger kids, especially those going to school for the first time, to make sure the child knows their phone number, address, how to get in touch with their parents at work, how to get in touch with another trusted adult, and how to dial 911. Teach them not to talk to strangers or accept rides from someone they don’t know.
