(Palestine) — The 2025 Labor Day Festival is in the rearview mirror, and Palestine authorities say it was a success. According to Palestine Police Chief, Dan Cheadle, the event drew huge crowds to Pioneer City. He says they appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation regarding traffic and parking. Cheadle issued a “thank you” to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Auxiliaries, Sheriff Rutan, Illinois State Police, United Life Care, Air Evac, IEMA, and Lamotte Fire Dept. Cheadle reports that the cowboy who was injured during Saturday’s rodeo was released from the hospital and “back in the saddle the next night.” He says the department had “a few calls for service” during the rodeo, and one fight on Saturday night during closing, which was “professionally and quickly de-escalated,” and no charges were pressed.
