(Undated) — The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters of key dates, regulations, and safety practices for the upcoming archery deer hunting season. Illinois’ statewide archery deer season opens October 1st. Hunters are reminded to pay attention to tree stand safety this season. The IDNR says tree stands are the number one cause of hunting-related accidents and fatalities in Illinois. Hunters are encouraged to visit IDNR online for more information about deer hunting regulations and to access the 2025-2026 Illinois Digest of Hunting and Trapping Regulations. According to the IDNR, Crawford County hunters harvested two thousand four hundred sixty-four deer in 2024.
