(Oblong) — As the busy “Fall Follies Weekend” approaches, Oblong authorities are reminding the public to stay safe. Mayor, Teresa Fielder, and Oblong Police Chief, Colton Williamson, remind the public to arrive early and park responsibly. They say when parking, avoid blocking driveways, alleyways, and intersections. Make sure the room between you and the other side of the street is wide enough to allow emergency vehicles to pass. Respect the downtown business owners who still have customers walking in and out of their stores and do not set up any chairs, blankets, or tarps in the downtown area until after 4 p.m. on Saturday. The public is also reminded to lock their vehicles and hide valuables. Fielder says during the parade, it’s important to keep kids and overexcited adults out of the roadway while trying to nab parade candy.
