Holiday Travel Gas Prices Forecast to Decline

By Tony Collins Oct 30, 2025 | 6:32 AM
(Undated) — As travelers begin to think about “holiday travel,” one thing they may not have to worry about is gas prices. With an expected seventy-one million Americans planning to hit the road for Thanksgiving, GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, says a drop in prices at the pump appears to be on the horizon.

De Haan says the forecasted drop is dependent on several factors, including refinery issues or changes to the geopolitical environment. He says prices typically drop in the fall as refineries switch to a winter blend of fuel for colder months and overall demand declines. The national average is currently $3.04 a gallon.
