Drive Safe During Winter Travel

(Robinson) — The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department responded to six weather-related accidents Friday, including one that resulted in a fatality. Authorities remind the public that when traveling on snowy and icy winter roads, it is essential to leave at least one and a half car lengths between your vehicle and the one in front of you. If you start to slide, take your foot off the gas, let the vehicle slow, lightly pump the brakes, and remember to “turn into the slide.” If you do slide off the road, put your emergency flashers on, stay in your car, and call 911. Authorities also remind drivers that if you are following or approaching a snowplow, slow down, give it room to work, and never try to pass.
