(Undated) — Another round of winter weather is in the forecast and Crawford County EMA is reminding the public to “shovel smart.” They say it’s important to warm up by doing 5–10 minutes of stretching to loosen your muscles before you start shoveling. They remind everyone to dress in layers, stay hydrated, and avoid stimulants. They say caffeine and nicotine can constrict blood vessels and increase your heart rate. They also suggest using a lighter shovel, which reduces strain on your back and heart and you should take breaks every 10 to 15 minutes.
