(Palestine) — LaMotte Firefighters responded to an early morning fire yesterday in the 500 block of West Market Street. According to a report from the LaMotte Fire Protection District, they were called out at 7:45 a.m. to 510 W. Market for a report of a structure fire. LaMotte units arrived to find the structure with “very heavy fire conditions” on the west side of the house extending into the second story. The report says that units began a defensive attack quickly and aggressively, protecting the house to the east as an exposure while extinguishing the main seat of the fire. The fire was brought fully under control by noon, but crews remained on scene after that to extinguish hot spots. Units were recalled around 4:15 p.m. to extinguish a small hot spot. Robinson Fire Protection District, Palestine Police Department, United Life Care Ambulance Service, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and AMEREN/CIPS also responded.
