Gas Prices Continue March Toward Record Highs

(Undated) — Gas prices in Illinois have officially hit record levels as tensions continue to grow between the U.S. and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. Gas Buddy’s Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick DeHaan, says prices at the pump are only going to get more expensive.

De Haan says that to further complicate matters, refinery issues in the Great Lakes are causing diesel prices to surge to all-time highs. He says prices are likely to set new records if the Straight doesn’t open soon, with a forecast national average of more than $5 a gallon. Currently, the national average is $4.54 a gallon.
