(Undated) — The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded continues to fall as we head into the holiday weekend. This morning’s numbers from GasBuddy.com show a national average of $3.79, down a penny from Monday. Here in Illinois, the statewide average is $4.02 a gallon, six cents lower than the beginning of the week. Indiana drivers are enjoying the lowest statewide average in the nation, with prices hovering around $3.09 a gallon, down twelve cents from Monday. California drivers are paying the highest prices in the nation, with a statewide average of $5.35 a gallon, down three cents from the beginning of the week.
