Carol Ann Henry, 74, of Oblong, passed away at 9:50 a.m. EST on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Carol was born on August 27, 1951, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Donald C. Clough and Joann (Davis) Clough. She married James Dean “Jim” Henry on April 1, 1967, in Oblong, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1983.
Carol is survived by her children, Joanna J. Callaby of Chicago, Illinois, Jamie D. Henry of Robinson, Illinois, and James Dean “J.D.” Henry II of Oblong, Illinois; four grandchildren, Caleb Callaby of Urbana, Illinois, Austin J. (Jessica) Henry of Hutsonville, Illinois, Seth J. Henry of Oblong, Illinois, and Maddox H. Patterson of Oblong, Illinois; six great-grandchildren, Aleighea Henry, Hadlee Henry, Kyeslynn Barnes, Sheltyn Henry, Cameryn Henry, and Emersyn Henry; and two nephews, Buddy Clough of Stoy, Illinois, and Ryan Clough of Lawrenceville, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Henry; her sister, LaJean Bolin; and her brother, Ricky Lee Clough.
Carol attended Newton High School. Following the passing of her husband, she worked as an attendance secretary at Oblong Grade School. She later worked at Roadmaster in Olney before going to work at Hershey in Robinson, where she remained until her retirement in 2014.
Carol valued the people in her life and especially cherished her “Girlfriends” from Hershey and the many years of friendship, laughter, and memories they shared. She was active in her community and enjoyed supporting the activities that were important to her family. When her children were young, she was a member of the Oblong PTA and served on the board of the Summer League. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Organization in Oblong.
Carol will be remembered for the life she built, the friendships she treasured, and the love she shared with her family. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Pulliam Funeral Home, 302 E. Main St., Oblong, IL 62449, with Brother Phil Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Oblong Cemetery in Oblong, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the funeral home.
