Check Your Smoke Alarm

(Undated) — The Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Robinson Fire Protection District are reminding the public to check their smoke alarms. According to the State Fire Marshal, 62% of Illinois home fire deaths occurred in homes without working smoke alarms or with alarms that weren’t properly maintained. They say a working smoke alarm isn’t optional. It is often the difference between waking up and not waking up. They say if you haven’t tested yours yet, there’s still time. It only takes a few minutes, and those few minutes could save your life and the lives of your loved ones. The public is reminded to test their smoke alarms monthly, replace batteries as needed, if applicable, and replace smoke alarms that are 10 years old or older.
