(Robinson) — The Crawford County Health Department is reporting the first confirmed West Nile virus-positive mosquito sample of the 2026 season in Crawford County. According to the CCHD, the positive sample was collected in Robinson on August 19, 2026, and was confirmed through routine testing. They say confirmation of a positive mosquito sample means that the virus is circulating in the community and there is a “heightened risk” of infections for humans. Residents are urged to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves from mosquito bites. The CCHD says it is important to remember the “three R’s” – reduce your exposure to mosquitoes, repel them by wearing insect repellent, and report areas where mosquitoes typically breed.
